Salhuselva in Steigen
The Salhuselva power plant is located in Steigen Municipality in Nordland. The power plant has an annual production of 11.6 GWh, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 600 households. The power plant has been in operation since spring/summer 2021.
Salhuselva is part of the Hop watercourse. The power plant will utilize a head of 195 meters over a stretch of approximately 1,200 meters. The lower parts of the area affected by the development of the Salhuselva power plant are already characterized by roads, buildings, and power lines. In NVE's opinion, this means that further interventions resulting from Salhuselva will be acceptable, provided that requirements are established for minimum water flow and for the technical execution of the development.

Minimum water flow 1 May – 30 September (l/s): 250
Minimum water flow 1 October – 30 April (l/s): 150
The consideration of anadromous fish is safeguarded through this minimum water flow, as well as through the requirement for a bypass valve and the appropriate placement of the power station in relation to the spawning stretch of the river.
If the inflow is less than the minimum water flow requirement, the entire inflow must be released past the plant. In such cases, the power plant must not be in operation.
