If the incoming water flow (inflow) is less than the required minimum discharge, the entire inflow must be released past the intake without being utilized for power generation. In such cases, the power plant should not operate, ensuring that the minimum discharge requirements are met.
A bypass valve with a capacity of 660 l/s must be installed in the power plant. This valve allows excess water to bypass the turbines, facilitating compliance with minimum discharge requirements and providing operational flexibility.
All changes in water flow should occur gradually to prevent sudden fluctuations that could harm the aquatic environment or the plant’s infrastructure.
Typical start-up and shutdown operations, which can cause abrupt flow changes, should be avoided.
