The power plant contributes to renewable energy production. At the same time, considerations are made on anadromous salmonids in the national salmon course system and landscape adaptation.
The authorities (the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate) have set a minimum water flow in the summer and during the winter to preserve the environment and landscape.

If the inflow is less than the required minimum water flow, the entire inflow must be passed through. The power plant shall not be in operation in such cases. The power plant must always operate according to the inflow, all changes must occur gradually, and typical start/stop operations should not occur.
